Japanese Disaster Relief Fund

Hi guys,

I've a number of posts to make about upcoming events, but first I just wanted to let you know that as it club we have donated £18 that we raised together last year to the World Vision Disaster Relief Appeal for Japan. I am sure you have all followed the news with concern as I have and that you would want to do something to help, so please consider this a small way of starting.  If you or your family would like to give more to help, then please consider clicking the link above.  Let's keep the people of Japan in our prayers at this time.

God bless,

Matt

Ps.  As many of you will know Sam and Sally are planning to move out to Japan at the end of the month.  They are stilling planning to go out but are keeping an eye on the Nuclear power plant situation before they make their final decision, so please do pray for them as well, for wisdom and for guidance.  May God bless them both at what must be a daunting time.

Whoooooo's fooooooorrrrr Bowwwwwwling?

You should completely come bowling on Friday 25th March guys.
Let me know if you're interested by email or text!  (I'll need to book ahead of time so knowing the numbers will really help!)

We STILL have A FEW Ceilidh Tickets!

UPDATE!!!

Hi all,

Tickets for our next it club event - the Ceilidh for Bulgaria - are disappearing fast.  To make sure you're in with a chance of attending do book your ticket now!  Tickets are available from both Ruth and myself.  One thing that we still have space for, is performances.  If you would like to do a turn, let me know the details.

 Ceilidh 2.10
That’s right folks – just picked them up this morning!  (And they look a little like this ------------>)

Details are as follows:
Ceilidh in support of the Baptist Church in Lom, Bulgaria
with the Walzurtartan Ceilidh Band
Friday 25th February

Tickets £6 for concessions
£10 for full price
Food included in the ticket price
Drinks available on the night
Performances pieces welcomed!
Tickets available from Brian & Matt
I really hope you can make it!  As many of us have commented it has been ages since we last had a Ceilidh and it is for a very good cause.  Our sister church in Lom does a lot of good work amongst the poor folk of their town and in support of severely disadvantaged Children’s homes.
God bless,
Matt

Enjoy a movie for beans!

You are warmly invited to a night of movie-watching and popcorn munching for the price of a can of beans!  Or a can of spaghetti, or of meat, or of fruit, or well anything!
This Saturday at 7pm we are having a movie night in the upstairs lounge with snacks and drinks provided, and as usual we are not charging for the event, but if you would like to come we would ask that you would bring at least one can of tinned goods for the Basics Bank run by the West Pilton Christian Centre.
The Basics Bank is an initiative which makes basic food and toiletries for those who for whatever reason find themselves in need of short term support.  Perhaps someone in the family has lost the job or their benefits has not come on time, whatever the reason, once they are referred to the Basics Bank, the team will do their best to provide them with what they need.  Of course they can only provide the basics if others donate them – that’s where we come in!  To view a full list of items currently requested by the Basics Bank click on this link.

Happy New Year!

.... Try not to start your new year like this ....
(Image found on Picasa)

Hi all,
I keep saying it to everyone I meet for the first time this year, but it doesn’t get tired – Happy New Year!  Whatever 2010 held for you – joy or frustration, success or failure, pleasure or pain – may  you find that God has infinitely greater things for you in 2011 and beyond!
I have just two resolutions this year:
1.  Be more reliable
2.  Bring back the Bowler Hat (which is the epitome of reliability, as well as the height of 18th Century work-a-day fashionability.)
With that in mind, I present a punctual and on time blog about the first it club Friday of 2011!
Read on…
…. and may God bless you in the New Year,
Matt

This week (Friday 14th January) it club is going to the Pantomime!  If you aren’t part of the group already booked in then do give me a ring and I will see if there is still space for you.

Lock-in 11th June

At the request of the group and in celebration of the end of exams, there will be an overnight lock-in on Friday 11th June (we'd like to call it a sleep-over but we're not that optimistic!)  We will start the evening together and split off into a girls group and guys group later on for the rest of the night.  Girls Tanya will be touch to know what you would like to do.  Guys do you have any suggestions??

Billy Elliot: The Musical Friday 4th June

Guys!  Sandie is totally in this musical!

What's say we go and support her by watching her?  In fact, what's say we make it a fun night out together and what is more, who thinks we should save money by booking as a group?

If at least 8 of us book together, we could pay as little as £9 each, but if 10 of us go together, we could get a youth club booking and pay only £7 each!  (Compare that to individual ticket prices of £10 /£12 for children and £13 / £15 for adults!)

Let's discuss this more tomorrow evening,

M@
